City of Amarillo receives new COVID-19 booster shots

Amarillo, Texas (KFDA) – The City of Amarillo has received 500 new COVID-19 booster shots. Divalent products are from Moderna and Pfizer.
If you received your booster at least 2 months ago, you are eligible for your current vaccine.
The new Booster Shot has two types of protection against the original virus and omicron variants.

Public Health has walk-in clinics for vaccinations and boosters, as well as first and second rounds of booster shots.
Casie Stoughton, Amarillo City Public Health Commissioner, said:
The ministry said the new booster is important to Amarillo citizens.
“Every time we can slow transmission and prevent transmission, the virus has less chance of mutating into the next variant,” says Stoughton.

Officials say the side effects of this booster are minimal: arm pain and mild fever for a day or two.
