Public Health reports measles outbreak in Laval and Montreal, urges people to get vaccinated
Laval Public Health announced that a case of measles has been reported within its jurisdiction.
Health officials said in a news release Thursday that the infected person was not vaccinated, had not traveled or had contact with a known case of measles, and therefore community transmission was possible. added.
The person, who was highly contagious, visited schools, corner stores, clinics and hospitals in Laval. The infected person has been isolated at home since February 26th.
Public health officials said they are carrying out contact tracing in places frequented by infected people. They are also calling on health professionals to report possible measles cases immediately, without waiting for a positive test result.
