Dallas County reported deaths associated with the third and fourth West Nile. news
On September 9, the Dallas County Health and Welfare Department (DCHHS) reported the eighth and ninth human cases of West Nile virus (WNV) infection in Dallas County in 2020. The first patient is a 66 year old resident with a 75227 zip code. The second is a 40-year-old resident with a 75233 zip code. Both are residents of Dallas and have been diagnosed with West Nile Nile Invasive Disease (WNND). In addition, DCHHS reports West Nile-related deaths in the third and fourth seasons of the 2020 season. The third dead was a 75-year-old resident of Richardson’s 75081 zip code, and the fourth dead was a 53-year-old resident of Dallas’ 75208 zip code. Both were diagnosed with WNND. For medical confidentiality and personal privacy reasons, DCHHS does not provide additional identifying information. To date, DCHHS has reported 11 cases of West Nile virus, four of which were West Nile-related deaths.
