CDC report acknowledges increased obesity in adults in the United States

From nine states in 2018 and six states in 2017, 12 states have self-reported adult obesity rates of over 35%.

These 12 states are Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia. The prevalence of obesity in adults in Pennsylvania was 33%, and New Jersey did not have sufficient data to estimate.

The data comes from an ongoing state-based telephone interview survey conducted by the CDC and the State Department of Health.

Earlier, the CDC reported that the national prevalence of obesity among adults was 42% in 2017-18.

Overweight and obesity have increased over the decades in the United States and other developed countries as a result of dietary, sedentary lifestyles, and changes in genetic factors. The situation is exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic.

A study published in July suggests that everyday activities are moving in unhealthy directions around the world as people stay home and businesses are closed. Researchers at the University of California, San Francisco analyzed smartphone fitness tracker data and saw a 5.5% reduction in average daily steps in the first 10 days after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared a pandemic on March 11. Or, I found that I was about 287 steps less. Thirty days after the pandemic occurred, the average number of steps per day dropped by 27.3%, or 1,432 steps.

As the CDC said in a Thursday report, tolls for both obesity and COVID-19 are worse in the minority group:

“Obesity exacerbates the consequences of COVID-19 and increases the risk of serious illness, hospitalization and death,” the report said. “Obesity overly affects some racial and ethnic minority groups at high risk for COVID-19.”

“These gaps” were stated by the CDC in a statement, stressing the need to remove barriers to a healthy life and ensure that communities support a healthy and active lifestyle for all. doing.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price.
