Alabama Ends Week with Increased Coronavirus Deaths: Review Week
The fight against the Alabama coronavirus has been relatively mild in the last few weeks, but the reported increase in virus deaths over the past four days is a sign of disappointment as the state is ready. Cold weather..

And 90 of these deaths were reported in the last four days alone, as the state reported double-digit total deaths in each of the last four days.
The seven-day average of total coronavirus deaths rose to 14.1 on Friday, the highest since September 17. Prior to Thursday, that number did not exceed 10 in two weeks.
A number of confirmed deaths reported this week came near the coast of Alabama. A total of 24 viruses died between Saturday, October 3 and Friday, October 9, in Mobile and Baldwin counties.
The state is currently suffering from 2,653 virus deaths since March. Due to the way deaths are reported, there is a delay between someone dying from the virus and being listed in state data. It is unknown when the deaths reported this week actually occurred. The state reports deaths by death date Coronavirus dashboardHowever, it can take weeks for deaths to appear on the graph, and the hundreds of deaths currently included in the cumulative total of ADPH have not yet been dated.
This week, ADPH reported 6,767 new viral cases, including approximately 4,900 confirmed cases and 1,900 possible cases. The total number of cases has increased slightly from the previous week, but has still decreased since two weeks ago.

State case roads have been relatively flat since Labor Day. According to ADPH, the number of cases increased slightly in late September, at least in part, due to a backlog of cases from private laboratories entering the system.
However, the 7-day average of new daily cases has increased by only about 100 cases from Labor Day itself. The average at that time was 855 cases per day. As of Friday, it stood at 966.
On Friday, the state reported nearly 1,500 new cases after showing significantly lower numbers most of the week.
The state also reported about 12,000 new tests on Friday, which is also a significant increase and may indicate another backlog of data entering the system.

The state’s positive rate on Friday was 13.3%, fluctuating between 12-14% in the last few weeks.
Hospitalizations in the state have been almost flat for the past few weeks- Hospitals in Tuscaloosa and Auburn reported an increase this week. The state-wide current seven-day average of viral hospitalization has not risen above 800 since September 15, but the state reported 816 current viral cases on Friday.

Jefferson County, the state’s most populous county, has the highest seven-day average of 103 new cases per day in the state. Currently, it is the only county with an average daily number of cases exceeding 100, and has declined sharply from almost. 300 cases daily earlier this year. Jefferson’s seven-day average actually fell below 100 on Thursday for the first time since August 25 and rose again on Friday.
Jefferson reported 720 cases this week.
Houston County, home of Dothan in southeastern Alabama, has the state’s second highest seven-day average of 68 cases per day. However, Houston reported more than 300 cases last Saturday as part of its data backlog.
Shelby County, just south of Jefferson, is third, with an average of 46 cases per day for seven days. Madison County, home of Huntsville, is fourth with 45 cases per day, followed by Tuscaloosa County, home of the University of Alabama, with 42 cases per day.
Both Mobile and Montgomery counties, which changed at different times during the pandemic as the state’s most devastated counties, have cooled. Mobile currently has an average of 33 7-day cases per day, making it the eighth in the state. Mobile reported death from the most confirmed virus in any county at 13:00 this week.
Montgomery is the tenth in the state, with an average of 29 cases per day for seven days.
