The first new COVID-19 death reported in the Waterloo region since August
Waterloo Public Health announced on Sunday the first COVID-19-related death in the region in more than two months.
Authorities did not provide details of the first COVID-19-related deaths announced in the Waterloo region after 22 August.
Deaths unrelated to outbreaks are the 121st in the region since March.
Waterloo Public Health also reported 20 new positive tests for coronavirus, increasing the total number of COVID-19 cases in the region to 121.
Over the last three days, 60 new cases have been published in the region.
An additional 11 people were removed from the virus and the total number of cases resolved increased to 1,295.

After one positive test was recorded, a new outbreak was declared at the Conestugadoon Campus Child Care Center.
The outbreak was also announced on Saturday at the Holy Spirit Catholic Elementary School in Cambridge.
This is the second outbreak announced with the involvement of Catholic schools in the region, as the Holy Spirit Catholic Elementary School in Kitchener was also announced on Thursday.
Two other active outbreaks remain in the Waterloo region, including those related to manufacturing facilities and those related to utilities.
Ontario reported 977 new cases of the new coronavirus on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases in the state to 76,707.
Compared to Saturday, when 1,015 cases were reported, the number of cases has decreased slightly.
“Locally, there are 279 new cases in Toronto, 238 in Peel, 130 in Ottawa and 113 in the York region,” said Health Minister Christine Elliott.
Nine new deaths were also reported, with the state’s death toll reaching 3,145.
