“This loss is eternal”: Grace University student dies after fighting COVID-19 | Coronavirus
Winona Lake, Indiana – A family of 20-year-old students at Grace College, who died after experiencing the symptoms of COVID-19, are urging people to take the virus seriously.
Bethany Nesbitt, a psychology student at Grace University, about 50 miles southeast of South Bend, died in her dorm room on Thursday.
Coroner Tony Siriello of Kosiusko County said her family in Grand Ledge, Michigan was “widely recognized as one of the most common causes of death among COVID-19 patients,” her official cause of death. Was judged to be a blood clot.
According to a family statement, Nesbitt had been quarantined in his room for 10 days after being tested on October 22, when symptoms began to appear.

Nesbitt was monitored by medical professionals during the illness and worked with her mother to check oxygen levels, the family said.
Four days after Nesbitt was tested, she went to the emergency room due to low oxygen levels, but the doctor who saw her said her case was not severe and “she seemed to be recovering. “.
Two days later, Nesbitt told his family that the day before he had lost his fever and his oxygen levels had returned to normal.
She took the test again the next day — her posthumous results returned positive — and went to bed watching Netflix.
Nesbitt was found dead in a dorm room last Thursday morning.
Nesbitt was the youngest of nine children.
Her family described her as a “selfless and affectionate friend” who always encouraged others.
“She was passionate about helping others, especially children, and her cheeky sense of humor and great laughter reassured them,” the family statement reads.
Nesbitt pursued a career as a child life professional, a medical professional who works with children and their families to help address hospitalization, illness, and disability challenges.
“The next time the family gets together, and every time after that, there will be vacant seats at the table,” the family said. “This loss is eternal.”
According to a statement, the Nesbitt family had already canceled their vacation plans and encouraged others to follow suit. “The risk of gathering in a large group this year isn’t worth it,” the family added.
Nesbitz took the virus seriously, regardless of age, and begged people to “take great care.”
“Don’t assume that young people aren’t affected by this virus,” said a family statement. “Bethany was cautious. She wore a mask. She was socially distant.”
