Tulsa County enters Phase 2 of vaccine distribution program
Oklahoma has distributed thousands of vaccines in the last few weeks.
The Tulsa Department of Health started distribution two weeks ago and is now in Phase 2 of the vaccination program, but they said that not everyone in Phase 2 could be vaccinated immediately. According to the health sector, first responders and some healthcare professionals will be classified in Phase 2 and will be vaccinated next.
Thousands of people rolled up their sleeves in just two weeks after healthcare workers distributed the first COVID-19 vaccine in Tulsa County.
“So far, Tulsa County has received 15,000 doses and was expected to receive 5,000 doses today or tomorrow,” said Ellen Niemitalo of the Tulsa Department of Health.
She said the vaccine has so far been given primarily to Phase 1 people, including frontline workers and long-term care facilities. We are currently starting from Phase 2.
“The first Tulsa County responders will be able to access the vaccine this week and go through a drive-through in the health sector,” said Nimitaro.
