Baker: The Vaccine Clinic Opening the Door to Residents Over 18 Was an “Honest Mistake” – Boston News, Weather, Sports
Boston (WHDH)-After the Boston Vaccine Clinic opened its doors to locals on Monday, Governor Charlie Baker called it an “honest mistake” that would never happen again.
Currently, only people over the age of 55 or in one health condition are eligible for the vaccine. However, on Monday, the Russell Auditorium Vaccine Site in Dochester allowed locals of all ages to get the vaccine, with or without reservations.
The Boston Medical Center, which helps run the site, said it was an “error” to get people vaccinated without a reservation and would never happen again like Baker.
“I call it an honest mistake. People talked, and I don’t think it will happen again,” Baker said at a press conference on Tuesday.
However, many unreserved people appeared at the clinic on Tuesday hoping to fire and said it was important to vaccinate the local population.
“This is one of the lowest vaccination areas in the state. I think it’s a mistake to put a barrier for people to get vaccinated,” said Jeremy Schenck, who lives in Roxbury.
