Pittsburgh (KDKA) —Pittsburgh people are responding to the news that vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks.

Pennsylvania adopted the CDC’s new guidelines on Thursday. Fully vaccinated people do not need to wear masks or practice social distance in most places, both indoors and outdoors.

The new guidance is welcome news for many, but others are hesitant to remove the mask.

“We are very excited,” said Mike Sukitch, owner of Mike’s Beer Bar.

“I’m a little tired,” said Samantha Shopper, a pirate fan who went to the match on Thursday.

“It’s been over a year since I was able to be maskless in my business, so it’s great to be able to do that. All the staff are smiling,” Sukitch said.

“I think that’s great. Obviously, masks are a hassle,” said Derek Pryor.

“I’m really happy because I’m completely vaccinated. So I still support wearing a mask. I’ll probably still do it in public,” Abbey Embry said. Said.

The CDC guidance states that people must comply with federal and local laws and obscure their corporate and workplace obligations.

Pittsburgh Pirates has not changed the mask rules at PNC Park.

Pirate spokesman Brian Wallecki issued a statement. “We are currently evaluating the announcement by the Ministry of Health of the CDC and PA this afternoon. We will let you know if the current protocol of PNC Park is affected, as soon as it is decided.”

This change in guidance is not a home run for everyone. Officials from the Pennsylvania Department of Health said unvaccinated individuals must wear masks until 70% of Pennsylvania adults are fully vaccinated.
