Today’s Illinois COVID Update: IL reports 943 cases and 24 deaths
Since the pandemic began, there have been a total of 1,375,508 COVID cases, including 22,623 deaths in the state.
Within the last 24 hours, the institute reports that it has tested 49,200 samples, for a total of 24,233,267 samples since the pandemic began.
The state-wide preliminary test positive rate for the seven days from May 16th to May 22nd is 2.8%.
As of Saturday night, 1,417 patients in Illinois were reported hospitalized with COVID-19. Of these, 343 patients were in the ICU and 195 COVID-19 patients were on mechanical ventilation.

As of Saturday night, a total of 10,904,411 vaccines were being administered in Illinois. The 7-day moving average of the daily vaccine is 75,546 doses. There were 60,746 doses reported to have been given in Illinois on Saturday.
Officials said 64% of Illinois adults were vaccinated at least once and 47% were fully vaccinated.
As the demand for vaccines declines, the United Center mass vaccination site is shutting down.
The walkthrough section will be closed on Monday and the drive-through option will remain open until June 24th.
Approximately 287,000 doses have been administered at UC since the federal clinic started in March.
The fatalities reported on Sunday are:
-Cook County: 2 women in their 60s, 2 women in their 70s, 2 men in their 70s, 1 man in their 80s, 1 woman in their 90s, 1 man in their 90s
-DuPage County; 1 woman in her 50s, 2 men in her 60s, 3 men in her 80s
-Ford County: One man in the 90’s
-Kane County: 1 woman in her 60s
-Kendall County: One man from the 80’s
-LaSalle County: 1 woman in her 40s
-Macon County: One woman in the 70’s
-Monroe County: 1 man in the 80’s
-St. Clair County: 1 man in his 50s, 1 man in his 60s
-Williamson County: A man from the 70’s
