Ferreira, Neal and Tolkin leave US men's national team training camp

CHICAGO (January 15, 2025) US Soccer announced that forward Jess Ferreira and defenders Jalen Neal and John Tolkin have left the United States men's national team training camp in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. A decision on whether to make replacements will be made in the coming days.

With players returning after winter break, the coaching staff took a cautious approach. After an initial medical and physical assessment, Ferreira underwent an individual training program and will now join Seattle Sounders FC so he can focus on returning to full fitness. Neal is experiencing a minor issue and will travel to meet his new club, CF Montreal, during their pre-season training camp in Tampa, Florida. Tolkin was allowed to leave the camp for personal reasons.

The USMNT opens its 2025 schedule against 2024 Copa America quarterfinalist Venezuela on Jan. 18 at Chase Stadium in Ft. Lauderdale. Kickoff for USA's first game of the year is set for 3 p.m. ET. The team will then travel to Orlando and finish their two-match series in Florida with a friendly against Costa Rica on January 22 at Inter&Co Stadium.
