Blues legend Alan Brazil has revealed he recently underwent life-saving surgery.

The 66-year-old was covered on the TalkSPORT morning show on Thursday and Friday by colleagues and the former Scotland international issued a statement explaining his absence.

“Hello everyone, I hope you’re all doing well,” he wrote this morning. “Some of you may have noticed that I haven’t been around.

“I recently underwent life-saving surgery and am extremely grateful to the outstanding staff who cared for me. It will be some time before I am fully myself again and I am currently focusing on my personal recovery.”

The Brazilian came through Town’s youth ranks before becoming a member of Sir Bobby Robson’s 1981 UEFA Cup winning squad.
