MIS is a rare condition that can cause inflammation of various body parts such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain, skin, eyes, or gastrointestinal organs. The cause of MIS is still unknown. If your healthcare provider suspects that your child may have this syndrome, you should test your child for the virus that causes COVID-19. This includes diagnostic tests to see if your child is currently infected with the virus. They also have serologic tests to see if the child has antibodies to the virus, indicating they have been exposed to the virus in the past or may be infected. ..

There is no specific cure for this syndrome. The child’s health care provider should provide treatment for the condition as needed. Early treatment of patients with suspected MIS may include treatment with immunoglobulins given intravenously (also known as intravenous or intravenous injection) and steroids. Your doctor will help you with symptoms (using medications and fluids to make your child feel better) and use a variety of medications to treat inflammation.
