International Tennis Hall of Fame to host combined ATP and WTA tournament in 2025

Professional tennis will return to Newport, Rhode Island in 2025 as the International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHF) today announced a revamped Hall of Fame Open featuring ATP Challenger 125 and WTA 125 tournaments.

The Hall of Fame Open is scheduled for July 6-13, 2025 and will be the second combined men's and women's 125-level event to be held in the United States. It is the only grass-court stop on the Hologic WTA Tour outside Europe and the first professional women's tournament on the ITHF since the Virginia Slims of Newport concluded in 1990. The same amount of prize money is awarded to the men's and women's lotteries.

Elite tennis has been a part of Newport's history since 1881. The 2025 Hall of Fame Open represents the next exciting chapter in the International Tennis Hall of Fame's rich history of honoring the sport, said ITHF CEO Dan Faber. Both the ATP Challenger and WTA 125 draws will feature 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. The WTA event will feature a qualifying draw of eight players, with a qualifying draw of 24 players for the Challenger Tour event. Matches will be played on five courts simultaneously for at least four days of action.

The International Tennis Hall of Fame induction ceremony and celebration will still take place in Newport and will be moved to August. More details about the event will be announced at a later date.
