3 Michigan Football Players Named to On3’s Top 100 for 2026 Season
Cornerback Jyaire Hill led the way at No. 24 overall, while running back Jordan Marshall came in at No. 37 and edge rusher John Henry Daley landed at No. 55. All three guys on the list make a lot of sense.
Hill’s placement is probably the most noticeable. The senior cornerback is popping up on more and more national watch lists this season, with On3 calling him “one of the most stable corners in the country.”
It’s also difficult to argue with the numbers. According to the article, “Hill has recorded at least a 76 each of the past two years PFF coverage ratio, 12 stops and seven passes defended. And he’s coming off an effort that beats the national averages in Clamp Rate (24.5 percent), yards/target (4.8) and yards/coverage rate (0.6).”
For a secondary expected to rely heavily on experience this season, Hill is increasingly looking like one of the anchors of the entire defense in 2026.
Then there’s Marshall, who has somehow quietly become one of the most underrated players of the offseason. The junior running back looked to be Michigan’s most explosive offensive player in 2025 despite battling injuries all year. He finished with 932 yards and 10 touchdowns while averaging more than five yards per carry, and there’s real reason to believe new offensive coordinator Jason Beck’s offense could increase his production even further.
The conversation around the offense this offseason has focused on creating more explosive plays and putting skill players in space, and Marshall has already shown he’s capable of playing a much bigger role than the RB2 duties he was tasked with early last season.
Finally, Daley may be the biggest wildcard of the three, but he may also be the player with the highest ceiling.
Before Daley suffered an Achilles injury late last season at Utah, he was one of the more productive pass rushers in all of college football, tallying 11.5 sacks last season. There is clearly a belief nationally that he can return to that level once healthy, and Michigan’s staff has sounded extremely confident all spring that he will be a key part of the defense.
Daley’s inclusion on this list probably says a lot about how people are starting to view Michigan’s defensive front in general. There has been a lot of focus on what the Wolverines lost on the defensive end this season, but between Daley, Dominic Nichols, Nate Marshall, Cam Brandt and others, the rotation could quietly be much stronger than people initially expected.
And that’s what’s most notable about Michigan’s representation on this list. The Wolverines may still have questions to answer and plenty to figure out during fall camp, but players like Hill, Marshall and Daley remind us that there is still a significant amount of high-end talent on this roster.
