It always happens-you have a song stuck in your head, try to hum it to your friends, and no one has a clue what you’re talking about. You keep thinking about it until you finally hear it snatched again from a TV show, radio, or store. Fortunately, Google has a new tool that can identify songs when you hum, sing, or whistle into your phone.

The technology to match tones to a database of identified songs by singing, humming, whistling, as well as lyrics, has been around for over a decade and until 2009 on the music app SoundHound. It was a classic.

To get started with new Google features, pick up your smartphone and open the latest version of the Google app or Google search widget. Then tap the microphone icon and say “What is this song?”[曲を検索]You can also tap the button. Finally, hum, sing, or whistle to get results.

If you’re using the Google Assistant, say “Hey Google, what’s this song?” Then start humming the song. Google will show you the most likely results based on the song you hummed. You can select a song and listen to it to see if it’s a memorable song.

Google announced new features on Thursday and launched it globally for iPhone ($ 699 on Amazon) and Android users. Currently, iPhone users are in English and Android is available in over 20 languages. Please note that this new tool only works on mobile devices, so it doesn’t work on Google Home or Nest speakers at this time.
