Sporting KC injury update and eleventh predictions commence against San Jose Earthquakes

Sporting Kansas City has everything on the line until Sunday, but they aren’t completely healthy yet.

Infection updates

The official infection report is released on Sunday, but it likely won’t be any clearer. The battle throughout the year, due to the COVID-19 Protocols, is that teams simply don’t have to reveal who is in question. However, over the past two weeks, Peter Vermes has been kind enough to answer some of our questions and clarify them a little.

Out – Felipe Gutierrez (knee surgery), Graham Zusei (foot surgery), Matt Bessler (unknown)

Another question – Alan Boldo (left knee MCL), Wilson Harris (concussion), someone with COVID?

It is unclear when the Sporting KC player contracted COVID-19, but he must be at the end of his protocols or very close to it. During that match, new additions to the injury report were Polido, Harris and Gadi Kinda, but Amadou Dia was unexpectedly not on the player list. Not including Diaa on the list keeps it in my mind because the whole point of the “medically unlicensed” designation is to hide who has COVID.

We know Polido and Harris’ injuries, not to say they couldn’t have contracted COVID either, but that leads me to believe it’s kinda. If he’s in quarantine, there’s no doubt he’s still working, but not in a team setting. And not in practice. It would be interesting to see what impact that would have, if any. But again, that is my personal guess. Since none of these men were on the infection report, it appears that the person with the COVID virus is available.

There are some guys out there, if they’re healthy, they start. I’m not convinced Polido is healthy so I’ll leave him away (same for Diya), but here are the undisputed beginners: Johnny Russell, Gadi Kinda, Winston Reed, Roberto Bunsek and Jaylene Lindsey (no one else has played well). There are other players I definitely expect to play, but let’s get into the core details.

The discussion of the defensive midfielder has ended

Over the past two months in the field, I’ve been demonstrating that Gianluca Busio might be a better defensive midfielder than Elie Sanchez. I still think this argument can be made but Elle looks like he’s been a different person since his return from Spain. There is no doubt that the personal issues he was dealing with were burdening him. Many of us have gone through the loss of a loved one and it is very difficult.

However, since his return, Ellie is a new man. Obviously a lot of this is him, but what I found amazing was the way he talked about it on the Sporting Kansas City Show that he learned from Busio. He watched the 18-year-old Gianluca Busio play his role and it made him even better. It’s very clear on the field and it’s something I mentioned during the Real Salt Lake match.

The great thing is that this frees Busio to play elsewhere.

Who starts on the left wing?

Speaking of Bosio, I think he’s the left winger. It is not the best position for him. I think that’s somewhere in the central midfielder now but since there are other players out there, he has to be on the field. Russell will start correctly, so it makes sense to put it to the left.

Let me tell you why. First, none of the other left-wingers (Khairi Shelton, Gerso Fernandez, Daniel Saloy) showed much in the role. Khiry’s best play came from the right, Gerso makes all day long but doesn’t always scale very much, and Salloi simply didn’t get on the field.

Second, the way defense plays affects this. We can all see Busio like to be in the middle and even LW it is drifting centrally. This opens up space for the interlocking left back (usually Amadou Dia) to fill that wide space. What allows Dia to rise on the field and stay on the field is that Jaylin Lindsey stays at home at right back. It’s basically three CB settings with Puncec playing in the middle, Reid on the left and Lindsey on the right. It’s not like Lindsay always stays at home, but he does it a lot and it works.

This whole thing worked well when Busio was able to drift centrally and sit under Alan Polido.

Do we see Alan Polido?

Vermes plays this near the jacket. At MLS ExtraTime he said he thought it would “be difficult” for Polido to play. That was a week ago today. When he spoke to Season Ticket members on Wednesday even though he said,[Pulido]Still an option for the weekend. ”That may be true, but I don’t buy it. Initial injury report took it out 3-4 weeks ago and that was way past this match. He could have recovered faster, but he’s been separated a little this year and I know every Something is at stake, but I can only see it off the bench if it’s available I think PV will likely want to keep San Jose in guesswork.

So if he’s not playing, who’s playing? In the recent past he was philanthropist Shelton. It didn’t really work, but it was Shilton. I’ll start with Erik Hurtado but if PV goes with Shelton, he just has to be willing to put Hurtado in case Pulido isn’t available. Hurtado from the bench was a beast anyway. He has five goals in 376 minutes, three of which came as a substitute. I was going to start a hurtado.

Is Amadou Diya healthy?

There was no mention of Diya’s health but surprisingly scratched against RSL. It was reported that it was a minor injury. If he is in good health, then he is the unquestionable initiator. Louis Martins lost his job simply because Diyaa stole it while he was out. There’s no reason not to start the hot hand at Dia. The only case against it is that he stopped for three weeks instead of two, but I’m still playing Dia.

The rest

That leaves only the # 8 midfielders. It looks like they’re supposed to be Kinda and Roger Espinosa, unless it’s kinda not okay or Posio starts on either of them.

You guys have it a little different from me. You are mostly optimistic that Polido will play Hurtado who is second in the striker. You also have Busio in midfield over Espinosa that opens LW to Jersey. Everything is reasonable. I’m not as big of Busio and Kinda together as I like the type of destroyer like Espinoza or Hernandez out there (or Gutierrez when it returns in 2021).
