To revive the electric stove project, Bahlil requests a budget of IDR 815 billion

“We import 80 percent of LPG. Every year, our foreign exchange expenditure for LPG is at least IDR 120 trillion. When the price of ICP increases, the price of foreign exchange we spend to purchase LPG is around IDR 130 trillion. The subsidy can exceed IDR 80 trillion,” explained Bahlil Lahadalia.
As a new form of energy diversification, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources chose an alternative by postponing the electric stove project. There are several models of electric stoves. The recommended power is less than 900 kWh. In this way, residents of regions, subdistricts and villages can use their existing electricity capacity.
Government attempts to reduce subsidy burden
Previously, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto said the government plans to accelerate the electric cooker conversion project to reduce the burden of the 3 kg LPG subsidy. The objective is to replace LPG stoves. With electric cookers, dependence on LPG is reduced and the burden of LPG subsidies can be eased, so that the APBN is more stable.
