Jackson County Confirms 15 New COVID-19 Cases, Henry Ford Allegianth Health Updates Testing Criteria
Jackson, Michigan – Jackson County Health Department reported 15 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday April 16th, reaching 207 cases in the county.
No new deaths have occurred in the last 24 hours, leaving eight deaths, officials from the Ministry of Health reported.
Of the confirmed cases, 54 are from Henry Ford Allegianth Health. There were 7 patients in the hospital with pending COVID-19 test results, and 37 patients with the disease so far have been discharged.
The hospital has updated the new coronavirus testing standards to allow more people to be tested. Now, news releases say anyone who had a flu-like symptom last week is eligible for testing at a drive-through screening and testing center.
These symptoms may include fever, cough, shortness of breath, body aches, sore throat, headaches, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Persons with these symptoms should call the Henry Ford My Care Advice Line at 313-874-7500 and select Jackson Option 1.
According to the Department of Health, there are 95 cases in Jackson County, 112 in men and 112 in women.

Twenty-one percent of Jackson County cases are between the ages of 50 and 59, and 23% are between 40 and 49 years old. The percentage of people aged 60 to 69 with COVID-19 is 22%.
COVID-19 positive results from Jackson County prisons are not included in the Department of Health data.
According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, no new cases were reported at the internal corrections facility, with a total of 162 positive on Wednesday. 17 prisoners are negative and 3 are awaiting test results. According to MDOC, 58 of the positive inmates recovered and were moved to a depressor unit where prisoners were out of contact with others.
According to MDOC, there were no new cases of COVID-19 by a Penal employee, leaving a total of 63.
No new inmates died in prison due to COVID-19, and the total death toll remains four.
As of Wednesday, two new cases were reported at the Duane Waters Health Center. There are 18 COVID-19 positive cases and 18 negative test cases at the health center.
No new inmate deaths have occurred at Duane Waters, leaving a total of one per MDOC. According to MDOC, health center employees have not tested positive.

In Michigan, 28,059 COVID-19 cases have been identified, with 1,921 deaths from the disease by 10:00 am Wednesday. Thursday’s numbers will be released at 3pm.
