KOTA KINABALU, April 23 – A weak earthquake, the third earthquake detected this month, measuring 2.5 degrees on the Richter scale struck the Ranao region at 12.02 am this morning.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department said, in a statement, that the epicenter of the earthquake occurred 8 kilometers northeast of Ranau, at a depth of 10 kilometers, which may have caused earthquakes around the region.

The first weak earthquake occurred in Ranau this month at 11.10 pm on April 18, with a magnitude of 2.8 on the Richter scale, followed by the second earthquake, measuring 2.7 on the Richter scale at 1.05 hours the following morning (April 19).
