KPU says Jokowi has no connection to election dispute, rejects Ganjar-Mahfud argument
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md duo argued in court that President Joko Widodo or Jokowi had committed structured, systematic and massive fraud during the 2024 elections. The General Elections Commission or KPU responded to the argument.
KPU lawyer Hifdzil Alim said the report submitted by Ganjar-Mahfud posits that there was a coordinated abuse of power by Jokowi and his administration during the election.
Hifdzil argued constitutional Court hearing today that “the president is not participating in the election and is not a disputing party in this matter.”
Thus, he considered the argument put forward by Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud Md to be inappropriate and misdirected because it has no relation to KPU as a defendant.
The Constitutional Court today held a hearing on the presidential election dispute. The hearing began at 1 p.m. local time, with the aim of examining KPU's responses to the arguments of Ganjar-Mahfud as defendant, Bawaslu as witness and Prabowo-Gibran's defense team as as a related party.
On the applicant's side, Todung Mulya Lubis, head of Ganjar-Mahfud's legal team, and his team were seen. There was also the head of the AMIN national legal team, Ari Yusuf Amir.
On the respondents' side, KPU Chairman Hasyim Asy'ari was present. Also present were several KPU commissioners, including Auguzt Mellaz, Idham Holik, Betty Epsilon Idroos, Mochammad Afifuddin and others.
The chairman of the Election Monitoring Agency (Bawaslu), Rahmat Bagja, sat on a chair in the courtroom. Meanwhile, on the witness side, there were several members of Prabowo-Gibran's defense team such as Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Otto Hasibuan and others.
