Congress leader Jairam Ramesh on Thursday criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over remarks made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat at a rally in Jharkhand.
In a post on X, Ramesh said, “I am sure the self-proclaimed non-biological Prime Minister must have known about this latest Agni missile that Nagpur fired from Jharkhand targeting Lok Kalyan Marg.”
Ramesh was referring to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's speech to workers in Jharkhand, where the RSS chief said that people want to become 'Superman' and there is no end to progress.
Without naming anyone, Bhagwat said that people want to become 'Superman' and do not stop there and want to become 'Devta'.

“Progress is endless… People want to become Superman, but he doesn’t stop there, he then wants to become ‘Devta’, then ‘Bhagwan’, but ‘Bhagwan’ says he is a ‘Vishwaroop’. Nobody knows if there is anything bigger than that. But development is endless,” RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said during an interaction programme with village workers in Bishnupur, Jharkhand.
“So we should be somewhat dissatisfied that we have all done all this, but some things remain… Workers should understand that. We must always strive to do more. Because every time, some things remain to be accomplished,” he added.
While Bhagwat did not name anyone in his remarks, Jairam Ramesh speculated that the RSS chief was taking aim at the prime minister. The Congress leader's comments come amid speculation over differences between the BJP and the RSS in recent months.
After the Lok Sabha election results, where the BJP failed to secure a majority, the RSS chief spoke about ending the Manipur conflict and the need for consensus between the government and the opposition.
In May, BJP president JP Nadda said the party's structure had become stronger and it was now self-managing, adding that the RSS was an “ideological front”.
Speaking to Indian Express in an interview, Nadda, in response to a question on whether the presence of RSS in the BJP has changed compared to the Atal Bihari Vajpayee era, said, “Shuru mein hum aksham honge, thora kum honge, RSS ki zaroorat padti thi… Aaj hum badh gaye hain, saksham hai… toh BJP apne aap ko chalati hai (Initially, we would have been less capable, smaller and would have needed the RSS. Today, we have grown and are capable. The BJP is running itself),” Nadda had said in the interview.
