Prime Minister Narendra Modi watched Monday, December 2, 2024 The Sabarmati reportproduced by filmmaker Ektaa Kapoor, is reportedly based on the Sabarmati Express fire in which 59 people, including 27 women and 10 children returning from a function in Ayodhya, were killed in Gujarats Godhra on February 27, 2002.

The film, starring Vikrant Massey, Raashi Khanna and Ridhi Dogra, was screened at the Balayogi Auditorium of the Parliament Library Building.

Mr Modis' cabinet colleagues, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with several MPs, attended the screening. Mr Massey and Ms Khanna were also present.
