Trump invites top US CEOs to attend China summit with Xi Jinping
President Donald Trump extended invitation to several senior US officials business figures who will accompany him to China this week for discussions with President Xi Jinping. The goal is to help ease tensions between the two nations and advance trade deals.
Heavyweights like Tesla’s Elon Musk, Apple’s Tim Cook, BlackRock’s Larry Fink and Boeing’s Kelly Ortberg are expected to be part of the delegation. This comes from a source within the White House.
Other notable names on the list include Stephen Schwarzman of Blackstone, Brian Sikes of Cargill, Jane Fraser of Citigroup, David Solomon of Goldman Sachs, Michael Miebach of Mastercard, Sanjay Mehrotra of Micron Technology, Cristiano Amon of Qualcomm and Ryan McInerney of Visa.
They are expected to cover a range of topics such as trade, artificial intelligence, export controls, Taiwan and the situation in Iran. Trump is optimistic about closing some trade deals and purchasing agreements during his stay.
Interestingly, Nvidia’s Jensen Huang is not on the list, although he mentioned that it would be a privilege to represent the United States if asked. Cisco Systems confirmed that CEO Chuck Robbins was invited but had to decline due to the company’s earnings schedule.
