Jokowi calls Nadiem Makarim a good person after his name was mentioned in Pleidoi
ONLY, MettaNEWS — The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, responded to the statement of the former Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Nadiem Makarim. Nadiem mentioned Jokowi’s name during the trial of the alleged corruption case in the purchase of Chromebook laptops at the Jakarta Corruption Crimes Court (Tipikor).
When met at his residence in the Sumber region, Wednesday (03/06/2026), Jokowi said Nadiem was a good figure.
“Yes, what I know is that Minister Nadiem Makarim is a good person,” Jokowi told reporters.
Jokowi made the statement when asked for a response regarding the mention of his name in Nadiem’s current trial. However, Jokowi stressed that this case is currently part of an ongoing legal process.
“Yes, it’s a legal procedure,” he said briefly.
Jokowi also responded to Nadiem’s statement, who in his plea expressed his respect for the presidents of the Republic of Indonesia, including himself. According to Jokowi, all programs and policies implemented by the ministry are essentially part of government policy led by the president.
“Yes, all policies, all programs come from the president,” he added.
Previously, Nadiem Makarim filed a plea or defense note during the trial for alleged corruption in the purchase of Chromebook laptops at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court, Tuesday (02/06/2026).
In his defense, Nadiem expressed his respect to the current President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, as well as the former presidents of the Republic of Indonesia, namely Joko Widodo, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Megawati Soekarnoputri.
The alleged bribery case in the purchase of Chromebook laptops that ensnared Nadiem Makarim is currently still pending in the Jakarta Corruption Court and is entering the phase of reading the defendant’s defense note.
