PTI protests to demand release of Imran Khan

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Friday staged protests in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, demanding the release of party founder Imran Khan and access to better medical care.

The protests took place as part of a province-wide call associated with Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aayeen Pakistan, a constitutional defense platform aligned with the PTI.

Demonstrations took place in Peshawar, Charsadda, Eidak and North Waziristan, with the participation of party supporters, officials, youth movements and elected officials.

In Peshawar, PTI workers gathered outside the Press Club as part of a joint agreement between the district organization and the party’s youth wing.

Speakers criticized Imran Khan’s continued detention as incompatible with democratic norms, and called for immediate access to medical facilities.

In the PK-64 constituency of Charsadda, provincial and local party representatives led a rally at the Press Club, where participants expressed solidarity with the party leadership and reiterated their demands for judicial redress and the release of political detainees.

In Eidak, senior party officials and local lawmakers led a separate rally attended by workers and residents.

Speakers expanded their demands to include medical care for Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, as well as calls for reduced fuel prices, tax breaks and measures to combat inflationary pressures.

In North Waziristan, protesters raised concerns over rising commodity prices, tax policies and what they described as politically motivated restrictions on opposition leaders. Similar resolutions were passed at rallies, calling for the release of political prisoners and the restoration of what organizers described as a public mandate.
