When Jokowi’s son’s club was relegated, Prabowo’s club moved up in the Indonesian League.

Two football clubs supported by national political elites at the end of the 2025/2026 competition season. Persis Solo, the club owned by the youngest son of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, Kaesang Pangarep, had to cry as its relegation was confirmed.
On the other hand, Garudayaksa FC, from the academy belonging to the 8th President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, is currently celebrating its promotion ticket to the highest caste.
Persis Solo actually managed to win in the final game of the season. Laskar Sambernyawa won 3-1 against Persita Tangerang at the Banten International Stadium, Saturday (23/5/2026).
However, the Central Java-based team’s victory was not enough to save Persis from relegation. At the same time, Madura United also managed to win 2-0 against PSM Makassar.
This result allowed Madura United to finish in 14th position with 35 points. Exactly in 16th position with 34 points and must go down to Ligue 2 next season.
PSM Makassar, who also collected 34 points, remained alive as they had a direct lead over Persis Solo.
For information, Kaesang purchased a majority stake in Persis Solo in 2021 while Laskar Sambernyawa was still playing in Ligue 2.
Kaesang owns 40 percent of the shares, then Kevin owns 30 percent, and Erick owns 20 percent.
On the other hand, Garudayaksa FC recorded proud achievements. The club formed from Prabowo Subianto’s football academy managed to gain promotion to the Super League next season.
Garudayaksa are the first club to confirm promotion tickets for the 2025/2026 Championship division.
The club started as a football academy founded by Prabowo in 2023. Garudayaksa later became a professional club after acquiring PSKC Cimahi.
Under coach Widodo Cahyono Putro, Garudayaksa performed consistently throughout the season.
A number of experienced players have strengthened the club, including Andik Vermansah, Komang Tri, Bagus Nirwanto and Sidik Saimima.
Out of 27 matches this season, Garudayaksa has recorded 14 wins, 10 draws and just three defeats.
Garudayaksa ultimately finished champion of Group A of the Championship division with 52 points and secured promotion to the Super League or the highest caste of the Indonesian League next season.
