Six cops suspended after gelatin sticks found during PM Modi’s trip to Bengaluru
BENGALURU: Following the discovery of gelatin sticks during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Bengaluru, six police officers, including a sub-inspector of police from Bengaluru South district, have been suspended for alleged dereliction of duty.
On May 10, hours before Modi arrived at the Art of Living Foundation center, a box containing two gelatin sticks and a circuit-shaped device was found near the NICE Road junction on Kanakapura Road, which was along the route of the Prime Minister’s convoy. A police officer deployed to provide security noticed the box.
The Kaggalipura police station has registered a case under the Explosive Substances Act and is investigating.
The suspension order was issued by Bengaluru South district SP Srinivas Gowda following an internal probe into lapses in security arrangements during the Prime Minister’s visit.
A police sub-inspector attached to Sathanur police station, an assistant sub-inspector of Kaggalipura police station and four other personnel who were part of the security deployment have been suspended pending investigation.
