November 26 demonstration: extension of Aleema’s provisional bail until June 1

RAWALPINDI. The court extended interim bail of Aleema Khanum, the sister of former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president, in the Sadiqabad police station case related to the November 26 protest till June 1, without taking any action.

During Monday’s hearing, the other accused named in the case, special prosecutor Zaheer Shah, and prosecution witnesses were also present in court. However, Aleema Khanum’s lawyer filed a motion seeking exemption from appearance, which the court accepted.

In another case, Special Judge Central Rawalpindi Abdul Rehman Muhammad Arif ordered suspension of salary of FIA inspector Abdullah Kiani for not submitting challan and custody report on time. The court also forwarded a copy of the order to the AGPR in this regard.

Qazi Bilal’s lawyer appeared on behalf of the accused and filed an application regarding submission of challan and custody report in the case registered in February. The petition stated that as per law, the authorized officer is required to submit the challan within 14 days.

However, despite the passage of four months, neither the challan nor the custody report of the seized property has been submitted, despite repeated orders of the court, which constitutes a complete violation of the law.

While granting the petition, the court sought personal appearance and status report of the investigating officer. However, for failure to appear on the scheduled date, the court ordered the confiscation of the investigator’s salary and adjourned the hearing to June 3.

It may be noted that the accused named in the FIR, including Shafqat Hussain Shah and others, have been out on bail since February. The accused was deported from Cambodia and the FIA ​​filed a complaint against him. However, the FIA ​​did not submit any complaint despite the passage of four months and, despite the court’s orders, also failed to submit the report regarding the handover of the accused’s property.
