BPIP invites the former president, is it possible for Mega-SBY-Jokowi to sit at the same table?

JAKARTA – The Pancasila Ideological Development Agency (BPIP) invites all former presidents and vice presidents of the Republic of Indonesia to attend the commemoration of the birth of Pancasila on June 1, 2026. The public is also waiting for the possibility of the presence of three national figures, Megawati Soekarnoputri, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Joko Widodo (Jokowi), in the same forum.
This year’s commemoration of the birth of Pancasila will be centered on the Pancasila Building Square, Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto will act as inspector of the ceremony, accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and members of the Red and White cabinet.
BPIP Principal Secretary Tonny Agung Arisanto said invitations had been sent to all former presidents and vice presidents as part of efforts to strengthen the spirit of mutual cooperation and national unity.
“We will of course invite all presidents and vice presidents. This is part of building collaboration and unity in the spirit of Pancasila,” said Tonny at the BPIP office, Jakarta, Friday (29/5/2026).
However, BPIP cannot confirm which personalities will be present. Confirmation of attendance is still awaiting a response from each party.
From the PDI Perjuangan camp, PDIP spokesperson Aryo Seno Bagaskoro said his party was still checking whether the invitation was accepted by PDIP General Chairman Megawati Soekarnoputri. According to him, the decision to attend or not will be adapted to Megawati’s agenda, which also plans a number of activities in June as part of the month of Bung Karno.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Democratic Party’s Strategic Research and Innovation Agency (BRAINS) Ahmad Khoirul Umam said that the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, had an internal agenda in Bandung on June 1.
On the other hand, the aide of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, Kompol Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, admitted that he had not received an official invitation from BPIP and therefore could not confirm Jokowi’s presence at the event.
BPIP leader Yudian Wahyudi explained that the Pancasila 2026 anniversary celebration is themed “Pancasila unifies the nation, the foundation of world peace.” This theme emphasizes the importance of Pancasila values as the cement of national unity as well as Indonesia’s contribution to achieving world peace.
The culmination of the commemoration will take place on Monday, June 1, 2026 at 10:00 WIB at the Pancasila Building Square, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta. Besides President Prabowo as inspector of the ceremony, a number of heads of state institutions also had functions in the state procession.
Now, public attention is focused on a big question: Will Pancasila’s birth day 2026 feature a rare meeting between Megawati, SBY and Jokowi on a single national stage?
