Donald Trump denounces the judge’s decision regarding the Kennedy Center

Donald Trump said his administration would work with Congress to return the Kennedy Center to them, in light of a federal judge’s ruling that the president’s name be removed from the performing arts institution and blocking plans to close it for two years for renovations.

In a Truth Social Post, Trump wrote that “based on the fact that radical left Democrats care more about opposing your favorite president, ME, than saving a dying performing arts center, which is almost all losing large sums of money across the country, we will work with Congress to return this failing institution to them so they can decide what to do with it.” »

The implications of Trump’s announcement were not immediately clear, but it suggested he was forgoing a future legal battle.

U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper ruled Friday that only Congress can change the name of the Kennedy Center, chastising the Trump-controlled board for voting in December to add the president’s name to its facade and other materials. Cooper also concluded the board failed to consider the full extent of the impacts of a two-year closure, even though it acknowledged renovations were needed.
