Donald Trump’s doctor says he is in “excellent health.” Here’s what the president’s medical report contains

Donald Trump’s doctor said the president is in “excellent health” following a physical earlier this week at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Sean Barbabella’s report, released Friday local time, said Mr. Trump underwent a CT scan, cancer screenings and other preventive evaluations by 22 specialists.

“He is eminently fit to exercise all the functions of Commander-in-Chief and Head of State,” Dr. Barbabella said at the conclusion of his report.

Mr. Trump, who turns 80 on June 14, preemptively declared that “everything was going perfectly” following Tuesday’s tests.

In the past, he has had to battle public concerns about his health, and photographs show him using makeup to cover bruises on his hands and neck, and often having swollen feet, ankles and calves.

Here’s what’s in the latest medical report of the oldest person ever elected president of the United States.

A look at his vital signs

Dr. Barbabella’s most widely held conclusion is that the U.S. president remains in excellent health.

The doctor said Mr. Trump “demonstrated strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function.”

Trump’s vital parameters Age: 79 years Height: 190.5 cm Weight: 108 kg Resting heart rate: 73 bpm Blood pressure: 105/71 mmHg Pulse oximetry: 98% on ambient air Temperature: 37°C

“His demanding daily schedule, including multiple high-level meetings, public engagements and regular physical activity, continues to contribute to his overall well-being.”

A list of vital signs was taken during the medical examination, including height, weight, resting heart rate, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, and temperature.

The US president weighed 108kg, six kilos more than last year, when the report said he weighed 102kg.

One of Dr Barbabella’s recommendations to Mr Trump was to aim for “continued weight loss”, but as reports show, the US president has gained weight over the past 12 months.

At 1.9 meters tall, Mr. Trump has a body mass index of 29.7.

An index of 30 is considered by doctors to be obese.

His resting heart rate was 73 beats per minute, which is just below the 75 to 128 bpm range that the American Heart Organization considers normal for men over 70.

In terms of blood pressure, Mr. Trump reached 105/71 mmHg (meaning millimeters of mercury).

The Heart Research Institute of Australia lists a reading of 133/69 mmHg as the norm for men over 60.

According to these same markers, it is considered optimal for a person to have less than 120 systolic (the first number of the reading) and less than 80 diastolic (the second number of the reading).

Mr. Trump’s reading of 105/71 compares his blood pressure to that of a healthy person under 39 years old.

Does Trump have any injuries?

In short, yes, he does.

When examining his ears, the doctor noticed “a scar on the right side” [ear] “Consistent with prior gunshot wound.” Mr. Trump’s hearing, however, remains intact, the report said.

The doctor also noted swelling in Mr. Trump’s lower leg, but noted that the situation had improved compared to last year, when he was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency.

An examination of the president’s hands revealed “bruising (bruising), consistent with minor soft tissue irritation related to frequent handshakes.”

Dr Barbabella said the bruising on the hands was due to taking aspirin and no “concerning growths” had been identified.

Her eyes, head, nose, throat, neck, lungs, abdomen and urinary system were all deemed “normal” by the doctor.

His teeth are said to be in “very good condition”.

Trump’s Lively Heart Age and Improved Cholesterol Levels

A scan of Mr. Trump’s heart showed no abnormalities, according to the doctor’s report.

In addition to this scan, they performed an “Al-enhanced electrocardiogram (ECG) scan” on the president.

She estimated her heart age to be “about 14 years younger than her chronological age,” according to Dr. Barbabella.

Trump claims health analysis gave ‘ammunition’ to critics, attributes bruising to aspirin

US President Donald Trump says he regrets enduring sophisticated images of his heart and abdomen because of the “ammunition” they gave his detractors, while defending his “perfect” health.

His cognitive function was also assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), in which Mr. Trump scored 30 out of 30.

A normal score for this test is between 26 and 30.

The doctor noted one item in the social history subcategory: “Lifetime abstinence from tobacco and alcohol.”

Mr. Trump has often said that sobriety is “one of my only strong points.”

Dr. Barbabella advised the US president to take three medications: rosuvastatin and ezetimibe for cholesterol control, and aspirin for “cardiac prevention.”

Mr. Trump has been following a cholesterol management plan since at least his first presidency, and this latest report shows improvement.

His cholesterol level improved significantly to 143, up from 223 in 2018.

Looking ahead, the doctor gave Mr. Trump a series of preventative care tips.

According to the report, the US president received advice on his diet and increasing his physical activity.

It was the latter point that Mr. Trump joked about at a recent Oval Office event.

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said the president walks more than nine miles every time he plays golf, which keeps him active.

“When I’m not using the cart,” Mr. Trump responded.
