US President Donald Trump’s doctor said he was in “excellent health” but advised him to lose weight, according to a memo released by the White House after the 79-year-old underwent a routine medical exam.

“President Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function,” said Trump’s physician, US Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella.

The three-page memo provides an overview of the physical examination and diagnostic tests performed Tuesday at Walter Reed Medical Hospital near Washington.

Meanwhile, a federal judge reopened Trump’s lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to review a $1.8 billion settlement with the Justice Department.

Miami Judge Kathleen Williams’ decision to reopen the case — an unusual move in itself, given that civil plaintiffs have wide latitude to drop their claims — came after a bipartisan group of 35 former federal judges urged her to take a closer look at the settlement.

Donald Trump suffers from “swelling in the lower leg” as well as “mild” bruising on his hands, but remains in excellent health, the US president’s doctor said in a memo released by the White House.

Citing the results of a recent exam, Dr. Sean Barbabella’s memo says Trump “remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and overall physical function.”

The memo, dated Tuesday and published Friday evening, affirms that the president is “fully capable of exercising all the functions” of the presidency.

Judge reopens Trump IRS lawsuit to consider $1.8 billion settlement with Justice Department

A federal judge has reopened Donald Trump’s $10 billion case against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) after receiving a third-party motion claiming the $1.8 billion settlement, which lacks details, “is the product of collusion and itself constitutes fraud on the part of the court.”

The ruling, issued by Judge Kathleen Williams of Miami, revives a lawsuit filed by the president and his sons against the IRS after their personal and business tax returns were leaked by a former contractor.
