Jokowi absent at Pancasila birthday ceremony, aide: did not receive invitation: Okezone News

JAKARTA – The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo did not attend the Pancasila Birth Commemorative Ceremony held at the Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, Monday (1/6/2026). The ceremony was led directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto.

Jokowi’s aide, AKBP Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah, explained that the former head of state’s absence was due to the fact that until the day of the event, his party had not received an invitation to attend the activity.

“Until this morning, we had not received an invitation for Mr. Joko Widodo to attend the Pancasila birth commemoration ceremony, either in the form of an official letter or other communication,” Syarif said when confirmed, Monday (1/6/2026).

Because he did not receive an invitation, Syarif continued, Jokowi decided not to attend the ceremony which took place in Jakarta.

“Therefore, you did not attend the activity,” he said.

This year’s Pancasila anniversary commemoration ceremony was led directly by President Prabowo Subianto and attended by a number of national figures. These include Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, 13th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Ma’ruf Amin, 10th and 12th Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla, and Soraya Hamzah Haz, wife of the late 9th Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Hamzah Haz.
