SOLO, KOMPAS.com — The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, expressed his condolences over the death of former Minister of Defense, retired TNI General Ryamizard Ryacudu.

“We express our condolences on the occasion of the death of Mr. General retired Ryamizard Ryacudu,” said Jokowi at his residence on Jalan Kutai Utara number 1, Sumber village, Banjarsari district, Kota SoloMonday (1/6/2026).

Jokowi remembers Ryamizard as a simple, firm and courageous figure in the service of the nation and the state.

“Yes, he is a simple minister, firm and courageous,” Jokowi said.

Pray for the deceased and the family

In addition to expressing his condolences, Jokowi also prayed that the deceased would be given the best place alongside Almighty God.

He hopes that all of Ryamizard’s sins will be forgiven and that the family left behind will be given courage.

“May his soul be accepted by his side, all sins will be forgiven and the families left behind will receive sincerity and patience,” Jokowi said.

According to Kompas.com tracking, after expressing his condolences, Jokowi continued his activities by meeting people who were queuing in front of his residence.

Wearing a white shirt, Jokowi then left his house around 12:32 WIB.
Before getting into the black Toyota Alphard, he greeted the media team waiting for him.

Ryamizard dies at RSPAD

For information, Ryamizard Ryacudu was Minister of Defense during the Jokowi administration 2014-2019.

Ryamizard died on Sunday (31/5/2026) around 2:30 p.m. WIB at the Gatot Soebroto Central Military Hospital (RSPAD), Central Jakarta.
