Jokowi was absent from Pancasila’s birthday ceremony because he did not receive an invitation

The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, did not attend the Pancasila Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony held at the Pancasila Building Square, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, Monday, June 1, 2026.

Jokowi’s absence was reportedly due to the fact that until the day of the event, no invitation had been received to attend the state ceremony.

Jokowi’s aide AKBP Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah said his party had not received any invitation in the form of an official letter or other communication.

“Until this morning, we had not received an invitation for Mr. Joko Widodo to attend the Pancasila birth commemoration ceremony,” Syarif said in a written statement received by the editorial team in Jakarta.

“There have been no invitations in the form of official letters or other communications,” he added.

For this reason, Jokowi did not participate in the series of ceremonies commemorating the birth of Pancasila this year.

“Therefore, you did not witness this activity,” Syarif said.

When the ceremony took place in Jakarta, Jokowi was known to be at his residence in the Sumber area, Banjarsari, Solo. Since the morning, he has been serving residents who came to keep in touch and take photos together during the long Vesak vacation.

Meanwhile, the Pancasila birth commemorative ceremony was led by President Prabowo Subianto as the ceremony inspector.

Also present were Chairman of the Pancasila Ideological Development Agency Steering Committee and 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, 10th and 12th Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla, and 13th Vice President Ma’ruf Amin.
