Turkey and Niger signed a series of cooperation agreements covering higher education, trade, health and diplomatic training following talks between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Nigerien leader Abdourahamane Tchiani in Ankara on Thursday (June 4).

The agreements were reached after bilateral and delegation-level discussions aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries.

Among the key agreements was a 2026-2030 Implementation Protocol designed to expand cooperation in higher education, research and innovation. The two sides also signed a joint declaration establishing a Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETCO) to strengthen trade and investment relations.

In the health sector, officials agreed on the joint operation and possible transfer of the Niger-Turkey Friendship Hospital, a flagship project symbolizing the growing cooperation between the two nations.

Another memorandum of understanding focuses on diplomatic training and strategic studies through collaboration between the Diplomatic Academy of Turkey and the National Institute of Diplomatic and Strategic Studies of Niger.

The agreements highlight efforts by the two countries to deepen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in key sectors, including education, trade, health and diplomacy.
