Construction crews were working Monday evening on the South Lawn heliport project, which is now obscured by a large black fence, the Post reported citing three anonymous sources familiar with the plans.

The new helipad was first reportedly in the works in May, but Trump and the White House have not commented on the planned addition — a rarity since the president frequently speaks about his major renovations during his second term at the White House and in Washington, DC.

Marine One helicopters traditionally land directly on the South Lawn, but an exhaust duct from the new Sikorsky VH-92A Patriot now risks burning the White House grass.

The project will be funded by a $5 million donation from Lockheed Martin, the company that makes the new Marine One helicopters, the Post reported citing a company source.

The new helipad would be built near the South Portico, where Trump and other presidents traditionally speak to reporters before boarding Marine One.

Neither the White House nor Lockheed Martin responded to Forbes’ requests for comment.

The grass on parts of the South Lawn had already been torn up for the massive 87-foot steel arena set up on the grounds of UFC Freedom 250, the country’s 250th anniversary mixed martial arts event that took place on President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday earlier this month. Lawn care company ScottsMiracle-Gro previously announced it would donate $1 million in cash and custom turf products to help restore the lawn after the event.
