After Jokowi’s visit was canceled, Bustami Zainudin was criticized for not providing an explanation
Lampung East (LM): The cancellation of the visit of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, to the Pugung Raharjo Archaeological Park still leaves question marks within the welcoming committee. Not only because the agenda was canceled, but also because Bustami Zainudin, who liaised between the committee and Joko Widodo’s team, reportedly stopped providing news since the first day of the visit.
Chairman of the welcoming committee Sukiman Jaya said Bustami Zainudin had been active from the beginning in establishing communication between the Pugung Raharjo committee and Joko Widodo’s team in Solo. He also attended several coordination meetings with the Randu Mas committee to discuss preparations for the reception.
However, according to Sukiman, since H-1 of the planned visit, communication with Bustami was lost. The committee admitted that it had not received any information or explanation regarding the cancellation of the agenda.
“We are disappointed, not only because Pak Jokowi’s visit was canceled, but also because Pak Bustami, who liaised with Pak Jokowi’s team, seems to have disappeared without giving an explanation to the committee. The community has waited and the committee has worked hard, so we have the right to get an explanation,” he said on Wednesday (1/7/2026).
He also revealed that the General Chairman of National Defense Culture, Mulyono, made several attempts to contact Bustami Zainudin by telephone to seek confirmation of the agenda. However, according to the commission, this communication effort received no response.
Sukiman believed that as an active member of the DPD RI and former regent of Way Kanan, Bustami Zainudin should maintain communication with the committee, especially because during the preparation process he acted as a liaison with Joko Widodo’s team.
“If there are changes or cancellations, they must be reported. The committee and the community have prepared a serious welcome. What we regret is that there is no explanation,” he stressed.
Several residents also expressed disappointment at the lack of information following the tour’s cancellation. They hope that Bustami Zainudin will provide clarification so as not to cause various speculations in society.
Until this news was published, Bustami Zainudin had not responded to confirmation efforts or criticism made by the committee regarding communications following the cancellation of Joko Widodo’s visit to Pugung Raharjo.
