The legal dispute regarding the legalization of the diploma of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is intensifying again. During the Lawsuit Mediation (PMH) trial at the Central Jakarta District Court, the plaintiff presented quite harsh peace conditions, namely asking the defendants to admit their mistakes and openly apologize to the public.
Additionally, the plaintiffs also warned that if these conditions were rejected, the case would continue to be taken to the evidentiary stage at trial and could potentially go down the criminal route.
Bonatua Silalahi and Moeryono Aladin’s lawyer Hans Karyose said his party proposed a peaceful path during the mediation trial held on Wednesday (8/7/2026). However, peace can only be achieved if the accused are willing to admit that they were wrong.
“We offer peace under conditions. The condition is that they admit to using the document without the date, month and year on each photocopy of Mr. Jokowi’s diploma that was legalized by UGM,” Hans told reporters at the Central Jakarta District Court, Wednesday (8/7/2026).

In addition to these confessions, Hans asked the nine defendants to openly apologize to the public through the media.
“We offer them to apologize, to apologize in front of the media, in front of television and in front of YouTubers. They apologize and admit to having committed an offense or an act contrary to the law,” he declared.
However, until the end of the mediation trial, no decision had been made by the accused. According to Hans, the representatives present still had to first consult each director before determining their position.
“It is up to the accused to communicate with his principal first, whether he will follow or satisfy our demands or not. If he does not satisfy them, there will be an impasse and it will go to trial,” he said.
Hans stressed that his party would not care if mediation failed and the case continued. He claims to have obtained evidence deemed sufficiently strong to prove the alleged illegal act.
“If they continue to persist and want us to establish evidence, then we will continue to pursue them until they are found guilty, because this is an extraordinary crime that they have committed,” he added.

For information, the PMH trial is linked to the document legalizing the diploma of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, issued by Gadjah Mada University (UGM). The applicant considered that the legalization document was problematic because it did not include a publication date.
In this case, in addition to the UGM, a number of other parties were also prosecuted, including the KPU and Bawaslu. The plaintiff argued that the institution used the legalized document in question in the process of nominating Jokowi as a presidential and vice-presidential candidate until he was finally elected as Indonesia’s leader for two terms.
