Chevron and NNPC battle for gold in table tennis final – The Sun Nigeria
The action continues today at the 19th Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games taking place at Package B of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Complex Abuja with the final of table tennis and men's singles between Keye Surajudeen Adekunle representing NNPC and Oyewole Olusegun of Chevron Nigeria Limited as the most expected.
The NNPC representative defeated pre-games favorite and STILL 2020 silver medalist Joseph Adebayo of NCDMB in straight sets 11/8, 11/7 and 11/8.
It was an epic semi-final and the biggest match of the day, with the competitors keeping the spectators in the packed Indoor Sports Hall on the edge of their seats.
After the match, the victorious Adekunle acknowledged his opponent's playing capabilities, adding that he had known him since long before the match.
We have known each other for a long time. He's a very good player. Sometimes he hits me too. Today was my day.
He said what earned him the day was good preparation, determination and being tactically superior.
He added that he was prepared for his opponent long before they met. When I saw the draw, I knew we would meet in the semi-finals. So I was better prepared and, as I said before, we know each other too well.
