Arizona football coach dies after severe heart attack

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Arizona. – A Arizona The Indoor Football League team is mourning the loss of one of its coaches, who passed away a few days after suffering a serious heart attack.

The Northern Arizona Wranglers say that David Moran, the team's defensive coordinator, collapsed in the hallway of the stadium Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley on June 29, about two hours before the team was scheduled to play a game.

Concession workers, crew members and a retired firefighter who was working as a ticket scanner performed CPR on Moran before he was rushed to the hospital.

Moran underwent surgery the following morning. He died on July 1.

“Coach Moran was surrounded by his mother, family, close friends and a number of NAZ Wrangler employees as he passed away peacefully,” said Fred DePalma, president and owner of Northern Arizona Wranglers wrote in a letter posted on the team's Facebook page. “Coach Moran was not just a coach to us; he was a beloved mentor and friend to this community. His dedication to the game and his players was unmatched, and his loss leaves a void that can never be filled.”
