Navin P. Kumar, an alumnus of Dufief Elementary School, Frost Middle School and Wootton High School here in Montgomery County, shares his personal journey as a proof of overcoming Lifes. Recognized as the first athlete to actively compete with Parkinsons' disease at the Olympic and Paralympic level, Kumar has navigated countless obstacles at a young age.
Kumar was born with an extremely rare congenital heart condition and has undergone 24 heart operations, including receiving a partial mechanical heart and a defibrillator pacemaker. He distinguished his experience with ventricular fibrillation of a heart attack, he suffered on December 25, 2022 and was a clinical death for 10 minutes. His revival was achieved by non -stop CPR carried out by his brother and eight shocks managed by Montgomery County EMTs, an attempt that placed him among the 5% of the survivors of the cardiac arrest worldwide without permanent brain damage. Kumar and his rescuers were honored by the county for saving his life.
Kumars' life is characterized by constant change, both externally and internally, and forms its positive attitude and deep love for life. These experiences have also fueled its determination to meet challenges, including managing Parkinsons' disease.
In sport, Kumar has made considerable progress in table tennis. In December 2018 he won two bronze medals for the US on the US Open Championships in Orlando, Floridahis First International Medals. This achievement made him the very first medal winner with both young start of Parkinsons' disease and congenital heart disease. In October 2019 he represented the US at the inaugural world table tennis championships for Parkinsons in Pleasantville, New York, who won a silver medal in Doubles and a bronze medal in Singles. He also reached a milestone by winning his first gold medal at the USA National Table Tennis Championships in 2022.
Kumar has also pursued a career in films. He made his acting debut in “Attack of the Unknown” (2020), where he also served as an executive producer; The film was released worldwide on August 28, 2020. He later portrayed the vampire “Damian” in “Bloodthill”, which was released on October 25, 2022, and he is part of the cast in “Wild West Marshals”, Dr. Macon, a cowboyarts in the old American Wild West.
