Three selected for Division III Tennis Singles Tournaments
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The ODAC representation in Tennessee may have deepened following the announcement of the Division III Tennis Championships singles and doubles tournament last week.
Washington and Lee University star and three-time ODAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Year Lauren Long doubled her participation in Chattanooga this weekend, qualifying her team for next week’s quarterfinals just days after learning she was an outright selection for the women’s singles.
On the men’s side, Randolph College standout Jacob Martin and 2025 ODAC Player of the Year Dominick Suwak of Shenandoah University were selected as alternates for the men’s singles. Martin and Suwak are the first players from an ODAC school not named Washington and Lee to earn at least one alternate title since 1996.
The NCAA announced the Division III singles and doubles fields on Wednesday, May 6. Each event includes 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams, with their selection determined by the respective sport’s Division III championship committees.
The women’s tournaments are scheduled for May 22-25 and will begin immediately after the May 18-21 team tournament period. The men’s singles and doubles will take place from May 23 to 26, after the team outing from May 19 to 22. All matches take place at the Champions Tennis Club.
Long is a three-time All-American in addition to her three ODAC top player awards. She is 14-3 in all-match play this season, giving her a career mark of 65-14 entering the women’s team quarterfinals.
Martin and Suwak both need players in the active field to break out of the competition so they can compete in Chattanooga. Suwak, the second alternate on the list, is 17-1 this season and 37-5 over the past two years. He helped the Hornets reach their first ODAC Championship game, finishing second to Washington and Lee. Martin is seventh on the Division III alternate singles list. He comes into potential play with a 15-5 overall record and a 12-4 mark in dual events. He helped the WildCats reach the ODAC semifinals for the second year in a row.
The draw for the men’s singles and doubles tournaments will be announced on Friday, May 22 at 1:00 PM ET. The women’s draws will be posted on NCAA.com the following day.
