Perry has been selected for a Honda Award for tennis finalist
Perry is the second Buckeye to be a finalist for the award, joining two-time selection Francesca Di Lorenzo (2016, 17). The other finalists this year are Reese Brantmeier of North Carolina, Carmen Herea of Texas and Lucciana Perez of Texas A&M.
The CWSA will celebrate its 50th anniversary during the 2025-2026 collegiate athletics season. For five decades, the Honda Sport Award has honored the nation’s top female athletes in twelve NCAA-sanctioned sports, symbolizing “the best of the best in collegiate athletics.” The tennis finalists were selected based on the final ITA collegiate rankings and NCAA competition. The winner of the Honda Sport award for tennis will be announced later this week after voting by administrators from more than 1,000 NCAA member schools. The recipient will become a finalist for the prestigious Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the Class of 2026 Honda Cup, presented live on CBS Sports Network on July 27 at 7 p.m.
This year, Perry finished the season ranked fourth nationally in singles and eighth in doubles (with Flora Johnson). She earned her third All-America honors in singles and her first doubles All-America nod. She received First Team All-Big Ten honors and teamed with Johhnson to earn the inaugural Big Ten Doubles Team of the Year award. Perry was 23-6 overall in singles, with a 15-4 dual ledger, and had a 25-8 mark on the year in doubles, with an 18-6 duals record. Perry helped the Buckeyes to the program’s second appearance in the NCAA semifinals and first place in the finals of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships. The Buckeyes were 25-7 this year and won the Big Ten regular season title, reaching the tournament finals. Ohio State had been in the Top 5 since February 11 and finished the year in fourth place.
Perry is the first Buckeye to earn All-America honors in singles three times by reaching the Round of 16 in the NCAA Singles Championship and the second Ohio State player to become a three-time All-American in singles (Irina Cantos Siemers 2021, ’22, ’24). She is the third Buckeye to earn All-America honors in both singles and doubles, joining Di Lorenzo (singles 2016, ’17; doubles ’17) and Kristy Dascoli (singles and doubles 2001).
In her three-year career, Perry is 82-25 in singles and has a 76-36 doubles mark.
