First three Illini football game times, TV designations announced
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The first three game times and broadcast designations for the Illinois football team’s 2026 schedule have been set, the Big Ten Conference and its television partners announced Wednesday.
The Fighting Illini’s season opener against UAB has been rescheduled for Thursday, September 3, with kickoff at Gies Memorial Stadium at 8:00 PM CT on Big Ten Network.
In Week 2, Illinois will host defending ACC Champion Duke on Saturday, September 12 at 2:30 PM CT, with the game between the Illini and Blue Devils airing on FS1.
The following week, the Orange and Blue welcome Southern Illinois to Champaign on Saturday, September 19. Kickoff against the Salukis is scheduled for 1:00 PM CT on Peacock.
The Big Ten and FOX previously announced that two games in Illinois – Nov. 6 against Nebraska (7 p.m. CT) and Nov. 13 at UCLA (8 p.m. CT) – had been selected for Friday night primetime broadcasts.
Additionally, Illinois’ Homecoming game against Purdue on Saturday, October 3 and the Illini’s road game at Michigan State on October 10 will both kick off no later than 4:00 PM CT. The final kick times will be determined no later than 12 days prior to each match.
The playing times for any remaining matches will be selected during the 12 and 6 day season selection process.
A limited number of Fighting Illini season tickets are available. As momentum continues to build around the program, Illinois’ on-field success has led to historic crowds at Gies Memorial Stadium, and remaining tickets are expected to sell quickly.
