Microsoft shuts down a localized version of LinkedIn for China

Microsoft announced this morning that it will shut down its localized version of LinkedIn for China, which has been available since 2014. The move came after increasing claims from scholars and reporters that they were notified that the service profile was blocked in China. Recently by The Wall Street Journal.

In a blog post announcing plans to relocate and launch a new China-only standalone product called InJobs, Microsoft didn’t refer directly to those reports. Instead, it says:

While they have succeeded in helping Chinese members find jobs and financial opportunities, they have not seen the same level of success in the more social aspects of sharing and disseminating information. We also faced a very difficult operating environment and growing compliance requirements in China.

Today, the Wall Street Journal reports that the Chinese government has instructed Microsoft to better regulate content in March with a 30-day deadline.

When the Trump administration tried to arrange for Microsoft to buy TikTok last year (CEO Satya Nadella called this the weirdest thing I’ve ever worked on), the huge soft power of domestic companies is that. Was part of making it possible. Other than the GitHub and Amazons review systems, LinkedIn was the only other foreign-owned platform that could host user-generated content in China.

Twitter and Facebook have been blocked in China since 2009, and Google moved its search operations from mainland China to Hong Kong in 2010. Meanwhile, Microsoft sanitized Chinese search results on Bing and provided a customized version of Windows 10. The government has expanded its crackdown on tech giants in ways that affect games, ride sharing, cryptocurrencies and more. The request clearly exceeded Microsoft’s self-awareness threshold to reassess LinkedIn’s operations. Apple continues to operate in unconstrained countries.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price.
