Covert Defenses is one of three Purdue startups to win first place at the Indianapolis Innovation Showcase

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The identity theft, ransomware and cyberattack prevention technology that emerged from Purdue University nuclear engineering professor Hany Abdel Khaliq's lab has grown into an award-winning startup called Covert Defenses. Headquartered in West Lafayette, with offices in Lexington, Kentucky and Knoxville, Tennessee, the company recently won first place in the Indiana Venture Club's Innovation Showcase competition, along with two other Purdue startups. The June competition drew 20 promising startups and 240 entrepreneurs, investors, industry leaders and innovation enthusiasts.

Covert Defenses LLC, which won first place in the digital technology category of the competition, offers a new technology that monitors, prevents and self-corrects whenever bad actors, whether inside or outside an organization, attempt to digitally disrupt or stop operations. The origins of the technology, described here in 2021, are also described in a 2020 paper written by Abdel Khaliq, an associate at CERIAS (Purdue University Center for Information Assurance and Security Education and Research), in Nuclear Technology magazine. The company's dual-use Covert Cognizance platform also ensures zero downtime during cyberattacks on military drones, diverse industrial systems such as oil and gas production, and public utilities. Covert Defenses was founded by Abdel Khaliq and Arvind Sundaram, who earned his PhD in nuclear engineering from Purdue University in 2022.

The second Purdue-related #1 ranking went to Amplified Sciences in the life sciences category. The life science diagnostics startup is focused on accurately detecting and preventing the risk of debilitating diseases, including deadly cancers. Amplified Sciences, which conducts its research and development operations in Purdue Research Park, bases its diagnostic tests on technology invented by V. Jo Davisson, professor of medicinal chemistry and molecular pharmacology in the Purdue College of Pharmacy and faculty member of the Purdue Cancer Institute and the Purdue Drug Discovery Institute. Davisson serves as the company's chief scientific officer. The company licenses Davisson's intellectual property through the Purdue Innovates Technology Commercialization Office.

The final winner in the Ag Tech/Hard Tech category was Insignum AgTech, a Purdue University startup whose technology allows farmers' crops to speak using pigments. Whatever challenges nature brings — disease, pests, reduced fertility — the plants can show farmers what they need to thrive. With technology approved by the USDA last year, the startup, founded by former Purdue postdoctoral researcher Kyle Mohler, is being praised for reimagining the future of agriculture.

In April 2023, Insignum AgTech and Becks signed an agreement to test Insignum's corn traits with Becks' elite varieties. In 2022, Insignum AgTech received a $100,000 investment from Purdue Ag-Celerator, an agricultural innovation fund managed by Purdue Foundry, with support from the Purdue College of Agriculture, Purdue Research Foundation Office of Technology Commercialization and the agricultural industry. The Foundry and OTC are now members of the Purdue Innovates network.

For more info and free online quotes, please visit https://compare-autoinsurance.Org/the-advantages-of-comparing-prices-with-car-insurance-quotes-online/ The modern society has numerous technological advantages. One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
