43,700 homes still without water after the March 16 earthquake

Snow was forecast in the northeastern region of Tohoku on March 19, adding to the misery of work to repair the damage caused by the strong earthquake three days ago.

Airlines, buses and railways were also scrambling to offer special services over the three-day weekend to make up for the disruption of the Tohoku Shinkansen line in some parts of the Tohoku region.
